Another Chilled Beam Project AwardedAir Technology Australia awarded George Street Sydney Chilled Beam Project6 August 2005 -- Air Technology Australia has been awarded a major refurbishment project in Sydney based on a Passive Chilled Beam. The project is being fast tracked to the extent that the Chilled Beams have to be on site eight weeks after the order being placed. This involves the unprecedented step of Air Freighting all the beams required for the project from the factory in Sweden to Sydney, Australia in order to meet the very tight construction schedule. Designed by Lincolne Scott Sydney office and being installed by Allstaff Air Conditioning for Builder St Hilliers, the project consists of 230 Passive Chilled Beams up to 3.6m long to condition three floors of a Heritage Building in Sydney's George Street. The builder has to hand over the completely refurbished floors to client DB Reef at the beginning of November 2005. The Passive Chilled Beams are ideal for this project as they have minimal depth and high cooling performance. Coupled with the specially designed quick connect flexible hoses and the standard "Clip Fix" bracketing system they are also extremely easy and very fast to install. The chilled beams are being installed above perforated face metal pan ceiling tiles and will be painted Black to minimise visual intrusion into the space. In some areas they will be exposed to view, while in other areas they will be installed flush with plaster board ceilings.
